kid nation 4

status- The council wants to put everyone into a big group, but no one likes that idea because everyone has different statuses such as religion. Some people are christian, some are Jewish, and other religions. They are trying to get everyone to go to church and learn that they aren't all that different. A couple kids got some people to come outside later that night to pray. Some people went but others didn't.

role- Everyone has a role in kid nation. There are four groups and each group has a certain job or role. Every week they have an obstacle to beat to decide which group gets to be upper class, merchants, cooks, and laborers. Every group has a job to do in order to fix up the town. if every group didn't have a role, the town wouldn't get fixed up as fast.

obligation-Some of the kids do not believe that taylor fulfills her duty as a leader. They say that she is too bossy and tells everyone what to do but she doesn't do her job.She thinks that being a leader is telling everyone what to do. Being a leader is helping people when they need help.

poorest president

Many bundle of US 100 dollars bank notes
picture from here
The poorest president in the world makes about $12,500 a year. This is a very low salary especially for a president, but what is even crazier is that he donates 90% of his salary to charity. I think this is crazy but at the same time it is amazing because even most of the richest people don't donate anything. I think more people should be like him so there wouldn't be as many people going hungry or without somewhere to live.

my weekend

picture from here
This weekend, I was outside at the lake across the street from my house. I went over to the lake to fish, but instead I found a baby bunny. I caught it and now we are keeping it as a pet. It is so small that we have to bottle feed it. We usually catch baby bunnies every year at the beginning of spring, but we usually don't keep them. We will keep it until it is old enough to be on its own, then we will let it go.

kid nation 3

desocialization- The children had a celebration and they stayed up late. One of the kids got mad and went into the houses and made a lot of loud noises and woke everyone up. Everyone got mad at him, but the council decided to give the town a curfew. Everyone has to be in the houses by 9:30. Some people agree and want to have a curfew but others don't want to. Everyone was so used to going to bed late and sleeping in and it was a major norm for all the kids to sleep in. Now they have to get used to going to bed and waking up earlier.

resocialization-the town council has decided to give the children a curfew because some of the children were staying up too late and not wanting to get up early. The kids have to adjust to waking up earlier and going to bed earlier. They have to be in the houses by 9:30. Some people are happy about having a curfew, but others don't want to have a curfew. They have to get up earlier to get their jobs done.

self-concept- Greg, one of the older kids, started working harder when he found out that there was a twenty thousand dollar reward given at the end of every week to the kid who works the hardest. He got mad when he didnt get it because he sees  himself as being the hardest worker because he is the oldest. He started going around yelling and cussing at the other kids. He believes that he deserves the gold star because he is working the hardest, but everyone knows he is just working harder  for the money.

Kid nation 2

Values- some of the children believed that they shouldn't kill the chickens because chickens are their friends and not food. others believe that they should kill the chickens because they need protein. they finally agreed to kill two chickens and cook them. they put the chicken into a stew and everyone got some.

society- the children working together is a society and they are split up into four different groups. the groups are green, yellow, red, and blue and they work together to get their jobs done to make the town a better place. the blue is the upper class, red is the merchants, yellow is the cooks, and green is the laborers. upper class gets $1.00, the mechants get $0.50, cooks get $0.25, and laborers get $0.10.

culture- The children have to adjust to new values while they are working to make the town a better place. They all have certain jobs to do. They have races to get jobs done to split into the four groups. The group to come in first is the upper class, the second group to cross the finish line is the merchants, third is cooks, and fourth is laborers.

PICTURE FROM HERE
On my birthday, I went to Petco with my family and i picked out a baby guinea pig. The next day my brother decided that he wanted a guinea pig, so we went back to Petco and picked out another one. We had a cage for them but they grew a lot faster than we thought so on Saturday, we went and bought them a new cage. It is a big cage and has two levels. It has a ramp that connects the two levels but they refuse to use it.

                                                                                                                       April 1,2014                           Dear Mrs. Debolt,

Hi, my name is Abby. My favorite time of the year is summer. My favorite things to do in summer are swim, fish, and catch snakes. My favorite animal is a snake. Last summer I went to Black River with my brother and my grandpa, and we found two snakes. I picked them up and my grandpa told me to put them down because they were poisonous. I told him that they weren't poisonous and that they were just water snakes, so we took them home and kept them as pets.

Now I will tell you some other things such as my favorite food, my favorite sports, and my favorite place to go on vacation. My favorite food is Chinese food. I love honey chicken from the Oriental Buffet here in Festus. I love all sports, but My favorite sports are basketball and soccer. I played basketball this year for the Festus team. I play soccer every fall before school starts for Our Lady Festus. My favorite place to go on vacation is Daytona Beach, Florida.

I do not really like messing with computers other than to comment on posts and make power points. I don't really like typing a whole lot, I would rather text on my phone. I am not very good with computers but that is probably because I don't have a computer at home. My parents have a laptop but I use my phone for internet.

kid nation is a group of kids in the middle of nowhere. They are trying to show that kids of all ages can get together and get more organized. The older children think they can rule the town because the are bigger and stronger. the kids are splitting up into groups to to certain jobs and make money to show who is better. they are trying to prove that the younger kids can beat the older kids. they are trying to show that they can do their jobs in a small amount of time to get a big reward. they did their jobs in an hour so now they have eight restrooms instead of one. now that they have their money from doing their jobs, they have opened up a store to sell candy and soda.

Do video games make kids more violent?

picture from here
I think that some video games make kids more violent, but that doesn't mean that all video games are bad for kids. Some video games have ratings on them so its is up to the child's parent to decide if they want to let them play that game or not. Although some video games are not good for some children, some are educational and have benefits to them. Some people believe that all video games are bad, but some people including myself do believe that there are a lot of educational games that are good for little kids.
